This Blueberry Spinach Breakfast Smoothie blends two superfoods–blueberries and spinach–with old-fashioned oats, sour cream, milk, bananas, and crushed ice for a delicious breakfast, or anytime, smoothie. Check out some of my other Easy Smoothie Recipes.
Blueberry Spinach Breakfast Smoothie
When blueberries or spinach are added to any recipe, you know you are getting lots of health benefits like antioxidants and keeping memories sharp. Combining both with a few oats and ripe bananas that have lots of vitamins and minerals make for a super smoothie! You can always use Greek yogurt in place of sour cream for an even healthier option.
Blueberry Spinach Smoothie Recipe
I used fresh spinach and fresh blueberries to pack even more of a nutritional punch in this smoothie, but you could use frozen blueberries in this recipe as well.
Ingredients (full recipe below)
- Old-fashioned oats–You could also use quick oats if that is what you have.
- Fresh spinach
- Fresh blueberries
- Sour cream–Or, substitute Greek yogurt for more nutritional value.
- Milk–Use any kind of milk you have on hand.
- Bananas
- Crushed ice
How to Make a Blueberry Spinach Smoothie
To make this smoothie, first, place all the ingredients in a blender.
Next, blend everything together for 45 seconds to one minute, starting on a low setting then increasing to the highest speed.
Then, serve immediately and enjoy! I got about 4 small servings (8 ounces each) out of this batch. There is just a hint of banana flavor in the smoothie, which I love, and you also get a bit of oat flavor as well.
Tips for How to Make Smoothies
Know your sweeteners! I use banana in most of my smoothie recipes as the sweetener, but you could also add honey, dates, coconut water, coconut sugar, or even cinnamon. My best advice is to try the recipe as is and add more of the sweetener of your choice if you want it sweeter.
